When You’re Sick of Making Videos

Edition #04 • Tuesday, 04 November 2025

THE PROBLEM

The “hamster wheel” of content creation wears creators down sometimes to the point where even making the next video feels unbearable.

  • Creative fatigue is cited by 40% of creators as a key source of burnout, followed by 31% pointing to demanding workloads, and 27% to constant screen time.

  • 37% of those creators have considered quitting altogether.

  • A Later mental-health report shows 43% of creators report social media burnout monthly/quarterly, and another 29% say it strikes weekly or daily.

  • In that same study, creators cited round-the-clock creativity, pressure to grow, and constant platform changes as core stressors.

That moment when you don’t want to make videos anymore isn’t failure…it’s your system signaling a breakdown.

THE OPS PLAY

Here’s how to respond as a COO of your creative business, and take back control over your motivation:

1. Pause the Output Gear

Give yourself one content-free week. No posts, no videos, no edits. Use it as diagnostic space, not self-punishment.

2. Content Audit + Triage

List your last 8 pieces of content. Label each:

  • 🎯 Core = highest value, highest ROI

  • 👟 Peripheral = nice-to-have, lower impact

Then do this:

  • Stop or reduce Peripheral content immediately

  • Focus energy on Core content (maybe even repurpose older work)

3. Systemize Your Creative Buffer

Implement a “content buffer” of 3–5 ready-to-publish pieces (drafted, edited, queued) so you never have to create in panic mode.

Pair that with a “mini-retreat day” each month: a non-posting day reserved just for ideation, rest, and regeneration.

4. Delegate or Outsource Micro-Pieces

Anything that doesn’t require your unique voice (e.g. editing, captions, thumbnails), outsource or use tools.

In a creator burnout study, 63% of creators named delegating tasks as a key stress-coping strategy.

THE DATA

😫 Creative fatigue (40%), demanding workloads (31%), and constant screen time (27%) top the list of burnout triggers.

💸 More than half of those suffering burnout (55%) cite financial instability as the breaking point.

📈 And 59% admit burnout has harmed their creative trajectory.

THE CREATOROPS PERSEPCTIVE

This isn’t a creative block.
It’s capacity exhaustion.

The only way you scale beyond the self is by building operational resilience.

A real COO’s job when the system fails: minimize damage, triage, rebuild workflow with buffer, outsource aggressively.

ACTION STEP

  1. Mark a content-free week on your calendar this month.

  2. Conduct a content audit of your last 8 pieces and immediately stop peripheral work.

  3. Draft at least 3 pieces in reserve for your buffer.

Do these three things before you post again.
